Services

Speech language pathologists (SLPs) in EI are qualified to provide services to families and their young children who demonstrate, or are at risk for developing, delays or disabilities in communication, speech, language, cognition, emergent literacy and/or feeding and swallowing.

The role of the speech therapist varies depending on the needs of the child and family.

Speech and language therapy goals can focus on a variety of different skills such as difficulties with socializing, receptive language, expressive language, articulation, motor planning, feeding and swallowing, stuttering, processing, following directions, fluency, voice, language use, etc.

Believe In Me ensures that each child and family has an individualized treatment program created based on their functional needs. All special educators work with the families to support their everyday routines in natural environments while making the learning fun and engaging for the child.

Different activities are tailored to every child’s interests and include direct instruction, sensory play, and social interaction.

Meeting a child where they are at and building upon their skills is a key factor in successful learning and growth.

Our providers are thoroughly trained on assessing the needs of the family and child and beginning therapy at an appropriate level of instruction.

At Believe In Me, it is our goal to provide families with supportive services that can help relieve challenges and stressors when caring for children with delays and/or developmental disabilities.

Our supportive services are unique to each family’s situation which include emotional support, identifying and coordinating community resources, parent education, counseling and crisis intervention.

We aim to provide services that are family centered and culturally responsive to our diverse community here in New York City.

We train our providers to create treatment plans based on the highest quality evidence-based practice and most recent research.
